Playing in the Studio

I have been playing in the studio! One of my goals for 2015 is to make my art a priority. I've seriously considered going on laundry strike, but I'm not sure that would go over to well with the family. It's so easy to get distracted by my daily "to do" list. But what I've tweaked a bit in the last month is that I add ART to my "to do" list. So it makes me spend some time in my studio just playing. It may be just for a few minutes some days and others I may get an hour or more.

One of the ways I've been adding my art to my "to do" list is by participating in a couple of online art projects. One of the projects is The Documented Life Project. It's free and the awesome ladies running the project post a prompt each week. It's really keeping me on track to create. The photos above are my take on the prompts.

Another online project I have been doing is Life Book 2015. (photos above are my take on some of the lessons) There are wonderful inspiring artists teaching this class so you get a variety of art techniques. I participated in last year's class but did not push myself to do the lessons. This year I am trying to do at least one thing from each week so at the end of the year I will have a completed Life Book journal.

And I've also been doodling. A lot! I started a little project on Instagram called Doodle Day Monday Β (#doodledaymonday) where I am trying to doodle something at least once a week. So far so good. And Julie at Balzer Designs started a February project on Instagram called 28 Patterns (#28patterns). I wasn't sure I could keep up but it has really been fun! There are some amazing patterns being shared. (Julie even posted one of mine on her blog, squeal! Thanks Julie!)

I am doing all of my doodles for February on kraft paper and really loving the outcome. At the end of February I will have 28 sheets of doodles that I can use in my art journals or other projects.

So what are you doing to make art a priority? Come join me in one or all of the above to start adding art to your "to do" list!
