Vintage Vibe Tag Book

I love making and working in art journals, I really love making small ones. This month I'm over at Roben-Marie's blog creating a fun small tag book using colorful supplies combined with vintage items.

Sometimes inspiration can come from the simplest of things like cleaning off your art table

This little colorful tag book was inspired by some tags laying on my art table one day when I was cleaning up. I had fun playing and combining bright colors with vintage items. You can head to Roben-Marie's blog to check out a full article and video tutorial by clicking the button below..

I hope you enjoy this fun little tag book!

I had so much fun playing with all the fun products in my vintage ledger.

Making time to create is so important and sometimes you just have to schedule it on your calendar!  My wish for you is that you will make some time, grab your art supplies, and follow along and create your own page. You can head to Roben-Marie's blog to check out a full article and video tutorial by clicking the button below..

Gratitude Junk Journal Workshop

What are you grateful for?

We are all grateful for things but do you stop often enough to reflect on the everyday things? The everyday things are so important and make up our beautiful, messy, and sometimes complicated lives. Come join me and 9 other beautiful artists in November for a journey of reflection and gratitude in The Gratitude Junk Journal Workshop. I am so blessed and thankful to be a part of this class and can't wait to guide you through a lesson of gratitude.

Gratitude. A feeling of appreciation or thanks. So simple, yet so mighty. It becomes mightier as we practice it in our lives. Growing it in a group makes it all the stronger. This journal will help to reinforce it and give us a great reference that keeps us grounded. Just imagine after one month how your attitude, those around you and your life will change. Change your heart. Change your mind. Change your life. A month of gratitude. A month of miracles….again!
— Tiare (Our Workshop Host)

Junque Art Studio Play - Playing With Color

It's time for another Junque Art Studio Play™ video! (Formerly Fast Forward Art Play™) It's really all about playing, having fun, and discovering new things. I try to make time several times a week to play and explore in my art journal. To get in the "play" state of mind I find it helps when I limit my time to 30 minutes or less. When my time is limited I tend to not over think things and just let things happen. (Most of the time anyway.)

I have been trying to use different color combinations lately and in this Studio Play time I pushed myself to use colors I don't normally use. It's good to have those comfortable tools in your art, but it's also great to explore new things. Your art journal is the perfect place to explore.

I hope you enjoy the video and I hope it inspires you to try some new colors and just make some time to play! Remember the page was created in under 30 minutes and I have fast forwarded the video times 2 so it's something you can watch quick.

When I first started I wasn't really liking where it was going. But I kept working quickly and making moves with color and marks. In the end I really liked how it turned out. I think I have found a new go to color combo to add to my tool box.

Below are most of the supplies I used in today's Studio Play Video. This list is to help you locate the products that I used. Please feel free to substitute products that you already have but it's always fun to shop for new art supplies. If you have any questions about supplies please send me a note in the comments below.

P.S. I used a hand carved stamp in the video so there is no link for the stamp.

(contains affiliate links at no extra cost to you)

It doesn't take a lot of time to create in your art journal. It's all about playing and having fun. So I would love for you to challenge yourself to carve out 30 minutes a week to just play!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask in the comments.

Happy Playing and Creating,

Creating A Junk Journal with StencilGirl and Canvas Corp!

This month StencilGirl Products is collaborating with Canvas Corp Brands to show you unique ways to use StencilGirl stencils with a variety of Canvas Corp Brands surfaces and Tattered Angels Paint Kits!

Be sure to check out the details at the end of this post on how you can win a wonderful prize package worth over $50 in goodies from StencilGirl Products and Canvas Corp Brands!

I got a fun package in the mail full of goodies from Canvas Corp Brands and couldn't wait to see how  I could pair them up with StencilGirl stencils.

Just look at this fun pile of goodies. I wanted to use the Tattered Angel sprays with the Succulent Stencil and the Canvas Fringe was calling out to me.

So I started with the Party Pink from the Beach Ball Calendar Mist kit and sprayed it through the Succulent Stencil. (My stencils are well loved!) I worked my way down the Canvas Fringe and I didn't worry about trying to match the stencil up as I moved it.

After spraying the Party Pink I dried it with a heat gun and then decided to add more color with the Summer Glow . Instead of spraying it I just dipped a paint brush in the bottle and painted it on parts of the flowers. (Tip: Remember to think outside the box when using your products. They don't always have to be used like they were intended to.) I wanted to leave some of the canvas showing and I didn't get hung up on making the painting perfect. I'm all about the messy look.

Here's a better shot of what the ribbon looked like after I used the Party Pink and the Summer Glow.

I liked the ribbon but I decided it needed a little green for a hint of leaves. The Beach Ball kit did not have green so I mixed the Summer Glow and the Patina together to make a really pretty green! I then painted some hints of leaves and then dried it all with a heat gun.

I took some of the fun Canvas Corp papers and started sewing them to the front and back of the blank journal.

I wanted the stitching to be messy so I used my free motion foot on my machine and just stitched some funky lines.

I added the fun pink burlap to the spine with the same messy stitches.

I just love how all of it turned out but I especially love the fringed canvas ribbon. The Tattered Angel sprays worked wonderful with the StencilGirl stencil.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and have fun combining your StencilGirl stencils with your Canvas Corp Brand products! Be sure and keep reading to enter for fun prizes!

Getting Artsy with StencilGirl and PaperArtsy

The Holiday season is here and I can't believe it is almost 2017! I think it's true what they say... "time flies when you get older". This year has definitely flown by so I'm looking ahead to the new year with creative anticipation. My goal is to make more time for my art in 2017. More time to just play and explore!

One of the ways I love to lose myself in creativity is working with wonderful products from companies like StencilGirl and PaperArtsy, and I am thrilled and honored to be a part of the Blog Hop! (Make sure you read all the way to the bottom for details on an awesome giveaway!)

With the idea in mind that I needed a cute little notebook to start jotting down my creative ideas for 2017, I created this little notebook to stick in my purse. I had so much fun combining products from StencilGirl and PaperArtsy to create this inspiring, but simple little notebook.

Here's how I did it...

Supplies I used:

Small Composition Notebook, old book page, Fresco Acrylic Paint in Chartreuse and London Bus, Sea of Sciffs Mini StencilInky Circles Stencil, Ebony Prismacolor Pencil, Ink Pad, White Gel Pen, White Gesso, Glue Stick, Vintage piece of fabric.

Let's get started...

First adhere an old book page to the front and back of a composition notebook. I glued the pages down with a glue stick and then trimmed around the edges.

Apply a thin coat of gesso over the book page. I used an old credit card to scrape it on to get some texture and a messy look.

Stencil random placed shapes on the front and back with the Sea of Sciffs Mini Stencil from StencilGirl and Chartreuse Fresco Acrylic Paint from PaperArsty.

Then add random marks of paint with a palette knife.

Accent your stencil shapes with a sketch pencil. Don't worry about being perfect, just make fun sketchy lines.

With ink and the Eclectica {Everything Art} 03 stamp from Paper Artsy add images to the front and back cover.

With the London Bus Fresco Acrylic Paint from PaperArtsy add some color to your stamped images.

Add more stencil shapes with the Inky Circles Stencil and white paint and the Chartreuse paint.

Add a stamped word to the front of your cover with Eclectica {Everything Art} 03 stamp from Paper Artsy.

Add more detail around the edge of the cover with a the Chartreuse paint and sketch pencil.

Glue a piece of fabric to the spine to coordinate with your paint colors. I used a piece of vintage fabric. You could also paint the spine or use decorative tape.

Add some additional detail with a white gel pen and sketch pencil.

I had so much fun creating this little notebook! The stamps and stencils made a great combination! I love how the Fresco paint from PaperArtsy is translucent so you can see the layers underneath the paint.

I hope you enjoy trying this little project with some wonderful products from StencilGirl and PaperArtsy!

Be sure and visit the rest of the blogs on the blog hop for some wonderful projects and a giveaway! Keep reading below for all the details.

Sometimes listening, really listening to what the slight whispers are trying to tell you is hard until they become more than whispers. Trying to ease back into my art by listening to the whispers.

Come join me over at the StencilGirl blog today to see how I created this quick and easy art journal page by combining multiple stencils. See you there!
