Love Your Art Journal Challenge Prompts

I’m so glad you decided to join the Love Your Art Journal Challenge!

Let’s make some time to show our art journal some love! The challenge officially kicks off on February 14th, 2019 but you can join in anytime and work at your own pace.

Before the new year I had been stuck creatively. I couldn’t seem to get out of my head and just play. One day I finally just started and kept it simple by making marks, smearing paint, tearing paper, etc. and thank goodness that little bit of play got me back in my studio and out of my head.

So I got thinking that others might need to same encouragement to just make some time to play in their art journal. You may be stuck too, or maybe you just need a reason to make time for your art, or maybe you just want to play a little differently to see what new ideas emerge, or maybe you just want have fun for no particular reason at all.

Whatever your reason for being here I’m honored you are here and I can’t wait to see what we create together.

Here’s how it will work

Join in anytime and work at your own pace. Work your way through the daily prompts. Interpret the prompt any way you want. It can be literal or you can think outside the box. Spend as much or as little time as you want on the prompt. My intention is for it to be quick and easy but if you get going and want to keep creating then please do! That means the prompt is working and sparking inspiration.

Here’s what you need to get started

  1. Challenge prompts - You can print a letter size PDF HERE and a BOOKMARK HERE. Hint: Tape up your full size sheet or keep your bookmark in your journal.

  2. Art journal or sketch book - Any kind will work. You can also use sheets of paper if you don’t have a journal on hand.

  3. Supplies - Work with what you have on hand. This exercise is all about not thinking too hard and just letting things flow. You may discover some supplies you didn’t even know you had.

  4. Notebook - you might want to keep a notebook handy to take note of new things you discover that you like and want to repeat again.

  5. And most important HAVE FUN!
